The Princess Royal will officially open Aberdeen South Harbour on Friday, September 22, 2023. The new harbour is a major expansion of the Port of Aberdeen and is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region.

The Princess Royal has a long association with the maritime sector and is Patron of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). She is also a Vice-President of the Port of Aberdeen.

The South Harbour is a £100 million project that has been in development for over a decade. It is designed to accommodate larger vessels, including cruise ships, and to provide a more efficient and sustainable port for the future.

The new harbour will create around 1,000 jobs during construction and a further 500 jobs once it is operational. It is also expected to attract an additional 100,000 visitors to Aberdeen each year.

The Princess Royal will be joined by senior representatives from the Scottish and UK governments, as well as port users and customers, at the opening ceremony.
